Ghostbusters Food

With the new “Ghostbusters” movie set to hit theaters on Friday, July 15th, it’s time to roll out the special food tie ins!

If you grew up in the mid to late ’80s, you probably had a Hi-C Ecto Cooler once or twice. Recently when I was talking to a friend about the “Ghostbusters” movies, the first thing he mentioned was how much he liked the Ecto Cooler drink. Well my friend will be happy to know that Hi-C is bringing Ecto Cooler back for a limited time. The Hi-C website says, “The fans have begged for it, and we have answered their call.” And this is cool… Ecto Cooler will be available in a thermal ink can with cold activated slime! I can’t wait to get one. It will also be available in a nostalgic juice box.

In addition to Ecto Cooler, Hostess is also jumping on the food tie-in bandwagon with the upcoming movie release. Introducing “Ghostbusters” Key Lime Slime Twinkies! So just how do you make a Twinkie to go with the movie? The Twinkies look the same on the outside, but that inside creamy filling is green and key-lime flavored. Look for them on the shelves at your favorite grocery store!

The newest “Ghostbusters” movie features all women as the main characters…Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. The original movie, in 1984, started Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson. In my opinion, the women have some pretty big shoes to fill, but we will see how they do!

Mark your calendars for Friday, July 15, for the new release. The official website is www.ghostbusters.com.

I’m off to the store to find some key lime Twinkies. I’ll wash them down with my Hi-C Ecto Cooler. Mmmm, imagine the sugar buzz I’ll have after that!

I’ve always been the kind of person who notices the things other people overlook — strange roadside attractions, forgotten pieces of history, interesting places, odd trends, and the little things in everyday life that make you laugh and say, “Wait... when did that become normal?” This blog is where I share those discoveries. Some days you might learn something fascinating from history. Other days I’ll take you along on a road trip, share a weird story from Michigan’s past, or simply rant about something in modern life that makes absolutely no sense. No matter what, my goal is simple: keep things interesting!
