Random Thoughts for Friday, January 24th, 2020

We made it to Friday. Some really quick “Random Thoughts” this morning…

KEEP MY MOM IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

Beginning in November my mother, Gloria, started to have some pain and issues with her stomach. She went to the doctor to figure out what was going on.

After several incidents of her doctors forgetting to submit paperwork, failing to make appointments, and just all around dropping the ball, my mother is now in the hospital.

After finally getting scans and a biopsy, last Tuesday (the day after my sister Debborah passed away), we were given the news that my mother has a cancerous mass in her stomach. They had hoped to be able to battle it with radiation.

While waiting for more paperwork that slipped through the cracks (I can’t tell you how much I hate our healthcare system right now), my mother has been suffereing from excruciating pain. Early yesterday mornings, she ended up going to the emergency room at the hospital nearest where she lives. They ended up transferring her by ambulance to Grand Rapids. My mother starts chemotherapy today. She was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, fast to very fast growing. They did a bone marrow biopsy yesterday. Today they’ll start R-CHOP chemo treatment. She’ll be in the hospital for a few days after the first treatment, to see how she’s doing..

Please keep my Mom in your thoughts and prayers.

JAY ALLEN HAS PASSED AWAY

I’m at a loss for words right now. A great man lost his very courageous battle with cancer early this morning.

Please keep Jay’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

COME SEE ME ON SATURDAY

On Saturday, from 11 am to 1 pm, I will be at Summit Place KIA of North Grand Rapids. They are located on north Plainfield Ave. (just north of where the old North Kent Mall used to be.)

They have some great deals on new and used KIAs. With some of the deals you can drive off in a new KIA AND get a check back to spend on whatever you’d like.

We will also have the WFGR Prize Wheel for you to spin.

I’d really love to see you tomorrow. I could use a nice distraction from life about now. Please stop by and say “hi”.

WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

There is a lot going on this weekend, from the Huntin’ Time Expo, to Hamilton, to the Harlem Globetrotters. There is also a Bridal Show and a Kid’s Expo.

You can see a list of “10 Things To Do This Weekend” here.

And remember the words of Rick Beckett: “Don’t Drink and Drive. Don’t Do It. Don’t be an Idiot!”

Have a great Friday. I’ll talk to you from 3-7 pm on 98.7 WFGR!

So sorry to hear about your mom and Jay, Scott. I’ll be praying for your mom and you. Losing a child, no matter how old they are, is traumatic enough without dealing with an illness. Unfortunately, the grief never gets cured and the hole in her heart will always be there but sometimes you have to get tough with the doctors. They’re busy and need to be reminded of who they’re dealing with. (lol)Prayers and Hugs for you both.
