Random Thoughts for Thursday, March 26th, 2020

Happy Thursday and “Good Hair Day“! It may still look good now, but in another week or so we are all going to be needing haircuts! Here are today’s “Random Thoughts”…

THE  NUMBERS

COVID-19

According to the website put together by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, as of Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm there are 2,294 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Michigan. That’s up 503 cases from the day before

Here in West Michigan, there are 36 confirmed cases in Kent County, 16 in Ottawa, three in Muskegon, two in Montcalm, one in Newaygo, one in Allegan, and one in Barry County.

We have had a total of 43 deaths in our state due to COVID-19. That number grew by 19 in the last 24 hours.  We have had one death in West Michigan in Kent County.

Stay home, keep washing those hands, and social distance yourself.

Hang in there. We will get through this.

ANOTHER CANCELLATION DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS

I saw this posted on Facebook this morning and had to laugh…

April Fools Day Cancelled

Isn’t that the truth!

I was driving home from the radio station last night thinking about how weird all of this is.

TOILET PAPER CALCULATOR

How Much Toilet PaperIt seems that people still feel the need to hoard butt wipe!

I think there are a lot of individuals that have more than enough toilet paper for 2020 and probably enough inventory to get them well into 2021 at this point.

Stop hoarding!

I’m still good. I’m still working on the original 10 rolls or so that I had before all of this. I do know there are people who are running low and they can not find any toilet paper on the shelves at the stores. This is ridiculous. People have been stockpiling this stuff for weeks now. Please stop!

Someone has actually taken the time to put together a Toilet Paper Calculator to help you figure out just how much TP you need.

Here is the link for the calculator.

If you have more than a months supply, DO NOT BUY ANY MORE!

Let those of us who didn’t hoard this stuff have a chance at buying some.

What craziness. I can’t believe I even have to be writing about TP!

BUY THESE INSTEAD

Toilet Paper SocksIf you really want to be surrounded by rolls and rolls of toilet paper, perhaps you need to buy these socks!

Now I am usually just a pretty basic sock wearing type person, but I think these are pretty funny.

I might order a pair just to have. These might some day be a collector’s item.

We could have a “Wear Your Toilet Paper Socks Day”!

They will cost you $14! Here is the website if you are interested in ordering some.

Plus, I look at it this way… If I do run out of TP, these might make a good alternative in an emergency!

CAN YOU SPARE A FEW BUCKS FOR A GREAT CAUSE?

This is not a good time for many people and organizations.

Paws with a Cause had scheduled their annual dinner for April of this year. This event raises funding for a big part of the Paws With A Cause organization.

Due to the coronavirus that dinner had to be cancelled.

So this year they are doing an online event that will run through Friday. They are at just over 50% of their goal with just today and tomorrow left for the fundraiser.

Here is a video that I did to explain everything and to get it kicked off…

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

I’m curious as to what everyone is doing to keep themselves busy during this “Stay at Home” order from our Governor.

Leave me a message below and let me know what you are doing. Maybe it will help others come up with activities to do so that they aren’t so bored.

Wash those hands, and stay safe and healthy.  Keep social distancing. I will talk to you this afternoon — local and live — on 98.7 WFGR. I hope you will join me.

If you have any comments on the above stories, please leave your remarks below…

My goal is to keep you informed and/or entertained on a regular basis. Maybe you'll learn something new, or just get that much needed laugh. My topics will include a wide range of subjects....from what's going on in the world, to places I've been, things I've seen, or even just a fun video that I've found online. Check back often to see what I've posted.

In your stats, could you post people who have tested negative and people who have recovered, please.

      Tina,
Unfortunately the state of Michigan’s website does not give us those numbers. If you can find a reliable source for that data, I would be happy to post that information as well.
